In 2002 four golfers were playing in wet conditions. One was arthritic and had trouble bending to put up his clubs. After the round the players discussed what could be developed to keep the clubs upright and easily assessable. One player had a machinist friend and asked him to bend a steel rod to hold clubs. The easiest bend was a "v" at the top of the rod. The device was referred to as the "v-stik". It was used during the next round of golf and the others in the foursome realized how beneficial it was. Three more units were made. It was decided to cover the handle with clear tubing to keep the club handles from being scratched. When it was shown to the women golfers they immediately decided the clear handle was too plain and suggested that colored handles would make the product more presentable. After some research, colored tubing was found that could be applied to the handles. When shown to the women golfers they said the v-stik still did not look finished and suggested an end cap be added to cover the steel end. Thus the final configuration was born.
To date over 5000 hand crafted (not machine made) units have been produced.
